Silicone and Grout Recolour - French Vanilla
This project presented us with a double shower cubicle that was suffering from grout staining and discolouration and also a poor silicone job.
The silicone was not even, was coming away from the tiles and was mouldy. When we started removing the silicone surrounding the shower tray, we also noticed that a second layer of silicone had simply been placed over the top of the original sealant. This is not a good technique and was probably the reason why the silicone was showing signs of coming away from the tiles. This creates gaps where water could get in to.
We frequently come across this issue of double siliconing. The existing silicone should be fully removed before a new line of silicone sealant is applied in its place.
The grout lines on this particular job were not too discoloured and there was little sign of mould on the grout, so a clean and recolour of the grout with our french vanilla colour option gave the existing grout a refresh and restored it to its former glory.
We also removed and replaced the silicone sealant around the small window that was in the shower area, as this was also showing signs of mould.
There was a bit of limescale build up on the chrome and glass so we addressed this as best we could too but unfortunately the limescale had started eating in to the chrome runners.
After a deep clean of all the chrome fittings, tiles, rails and glass, the shower area looked almost new again. Another happy customer.
