Double Shower Refurbishment - Clean, Re-seal and Grout Recolour

This walk-in shower was 20 years old and was way overdue a refresh. The grout was very discoloured with quite a lot of mould and discolouration. The tiles had a build up of residue and the silicone had been very poorly applied with several thick layers.

There was also an added complication as there some poor installation work behind the sink and on the base of the shower area. Making for some tricky silicone areas that we would try and make more aesthetically pleasing.

With this job we first stripped out all the original silicone behind the sink, in the shower and at the front of the shower. There was a large gap below the chrome shower bar at the front where there was a lot of mouldy silicone. It took a little bit of time removing all of this and giving this area a good clean. We then cleaned the grout lines and scraped back where needed. We then gave the whole shower area deep clean, paying particular attention to under the chrome bar at the front and under the runners, which can be a magnet for dirt and mould build up.

Once the area was stripped, cleaned and prepped, we then applied the Grout Gleam compound to the existing grout. Our customer opted for pure white which is really fresh. I think French Vanilla would also look good with these tiles but our customer wanted a really fresh white look.

When it came to silicone sealant, we used a combination of the jasmine colour in the corners and along the top of the white plastic shower bars and then white everywhere else. Behind the sink, again, we used a combination of jasmine colour and white silicone to create the best look.

This shower was in a very small space and did come with some added challenges, but we love a challenge and our customer could not believe how good their shower looked when we had finished. We were very pleased with how it turned out too. Great job to work on!
